Original concept. It's Harvest Moon, but very unique in it's own way. You can do arrands for people, palnd trees and harvest their berries, go fishing, catch insects, collect stuff for the museum, decorate your house, roam around the neighborhood, and pay money to have your house remodeled. It also makes a lot of use of the Game Boy Advance and Internect connection features for those who actually have the add-on components (not me).
The feel has a nice Nintendo polish with cute characters and whatnot. Lots of character quirks done in Nintendo's high quality style. They are very enjoyable.
Having the time tie into the system clock is a unique, interesting idea. Now you ahve to plan your life around the game.
There are many different things you can do in the town. Collect shirts, do different errands for people and get to know some of the characters in the process, plant trees and stuff, write letters and mail the, catch bugs... and you can do it all at your own leisure.
There is a diverse selection of ways in which to generate cash, and the player can choose any they want, whatever they feel like, and one isn't necessarily better than the other, and you can switch between the different option at pretty much any time.

The game play is just not all that much fun. Running around and doing errands for people, and working to pay off your mortgage, despite it's quirkyness, is not really my idea of a fun time. Aside from that, most of the time when you interact with the other characters, which you have to do if you want to do anything in this game, then you have to sit through lots of text and cutesy gibberish talking. In The Sims, interacting wit other characters actually became a game mechanic, and both you and the other character were sharing an equal number of interactions. But in this game, you say two words, and then the other character talks for eight sentences. It is more like watching a puppet show and twitching to press a button every once in awhile. It does not engage the player's brain enough. The game play does not have an addictive rhythm and flow to it.
Text instead of voice acting.
All the characters have basically the same cutesy gibberish tone. They aren't unique enough.
The graphics are a little behind, especially when it comes to polycount.
Sometimes, when you want to make the game progress, you will have to save your game, go back to the main menu, reset the date, and then reload the game.
