Fun, unique characters. All of the evil henchmen have their own personality quirks, and so does Crash and his friends. Crash has an appearance that looks edgy, risk-taking, and curious, which is very appropiate to the gameplay.

Lots of variation. There are many different kinds of levels - swimming, submarine, in the rolling ball, normal walking and jumping, and more. Within each type of level there is also variation - for walking and jumping there is all the different tricks with the crates, collecting fruit, many different obstacles, etc. For submarine there are many kinds of fish and other various obstacles. Each kind of level has it's own set of obstacles. It doesn't get too repeditive.

Different themed areas - regular, water, fire, snow, and space

There is nothing really new about this game that makes it better than the other Crash games. It's pretty much the same game, just with different levels.

Lack of storytelling. In the last game I played - Spiderman - there was story development and dialogue all throughout the gameplay. It made you feel like you were a hero on a quest. But in this game you just run around an bunch of obstacle courses while listening to fun happy music. After you complete an area you do get to see a short cutscene, but all they say is something boring like, "Oh god, get that bandicoot! Crash, I'm gonna get you this time."

The gameplay is set up so that if you make one wrong step, or get hit once by an enemy, you are instantly flug back to the last checkpoint. This type of set up makes playing the game frustrating.

Going to different areas via warp pads takes much away from the escapism factor.

You collect these crystals, gems, and relics, but it's never mentioned what they're used for. This also contributes to the poor storytelling.

The levels are far too linear. There is no room to roam around freely.
