A well-made medieval-themed real-time strategy game.

+

1) The game puts a new twist into the RPG genre. The reality-based medieval warfare theme is perfect for computer geeks, and other members of the hardcore niche audience. Educational too. It is also implemented very well. It has everything the player could need to conduct strategic medieval warfare. The strategies you use, and the counter strategies are just like they were back in the day of the black death.

2) Decent system requirements.

3) Everything is very customizable, and there are many shortcut keys. I especially like the find idle villiager button.

4) Victory requires having a well-balanced army, unlike some other real-time strategy games where you just overrun the opponent with as many of one kind of unit that you can make.

-

1) The graphics look too bland. They don't really catch your eye; they don't look cool enough.

2) Steep learning curve.

3) When conducting siege warfare, the game does not allow you to catapult people infected with the black death into the enemy camp. I remember history class, and how cool I thought germ warfare must've been to watch. This game leaves out this all important strategy of medieval warfare.

4) It's basically just another real-time strategy game. The battle system is a little bit different, but it does not differ from it's genre enough to provide the player with an exceptionally new kind of game play experience.

5) The one thing the separates the races the most is their building architecture. Other than that they are pretty much the same. There are also some inaccuracies - I don't ever remember learning about the Japanese using Trebuchet's in any of their medieval battles.

6) There are no Aztec, Inca, or Native American tribes. Americans are expecially familiar with these tribes and they were never used. And what about African, Egyptian, or Aboriginal tribes? Why do Europeans and Asians get to have all the fun?
