The world's first farming RPG.

1) The basic game play is very simple and very addictive. You get up, do your farming chores, go to bed, and start again. Slowly your money goes up, your farm expands, your house expands, and you just keep working to build up your farm.
2) The game does not punish neglegence: your animals and crops do not die when you forget to feed them. Everything you do is a matter of taking steps forward, and not doing anything will not make you take a step too far back. It's a nice luxury that the game gives you that you could never have in real life.
3) This game is sure to win the interest of the hardcore audience: it is very original and very fun. Most RPGs focus on playing the role of a warrior that has to save the world from evil by fighting monsters, but this RPG focuses on playing the role of a farm boy that has to raise his crops. What could be more of a unique experience than that!?
4) The characters are likeable. The characters' superdeformed anime quality is something that RPG gamers are familiar with, so that works.
5) This game is a great combination of RPG and farming sim. It's a farming sim that plays like an RPG. Again, very original.
6) The story elements really added some depth to the environment.
7) Unlike many RPGs nowadays, the story segments were very short. I spent much more time playing the game than watching the movie.
8) The game play is very open-ended. When you start the game, it's basically like. "Here's a town and a farm, and there's some stuff you can do. Have fun!" This is especially good because it presents the player with a greater sense of freedom and choice.
9) Having the different townspeople on a schedule, and shops that open at different times creates some depth and realism to the environment. It is similar to the affect achieved with Majora's Mask.
10) There is a wide variety of different things to do in the game: grow crops, raise chickens, milk cows, chop wood, play girls, buy stuff, take care of your pets, participate in the village events, and so on.

1) The basic game play is fun, but a little too repeditive. Sometimes if just seems like I'm doing the same thing over and over, without very many new things to do or new areas to explore.
2) Steep learning curve.
3) Text instead of voice acting.
4) The graphics are too far behind the competition. The N64 was designed for immersive 3D graphics, and this games does not take advantage of that. It also makes it so that the games doesn't look so cool from across the room, which it should.
5) The music gets too repeditive.
6) When you wake up, it would really be nice if the calendar would automatically display itself showing you what day it is. I often forget which day it is because I get so caught up in the farm chores.
7) If you could cycle through your inventory without bringing up the menu screen each time then it would make unloading the ruck sack much easier.
8) The whistling for the dog and horse doesn't really work at all. That's something that should be fixed
9) Suppose you're going to tell a friend about this game, and you say, "Harvest Moon man, it's an awesome game!" and they ask, "So what kind of game is it?" and you say, "It's a farming RPG. You can be on a farm, grow crops and raise chickens." I seriously doubt that description would create a positive reaction from most people. Giving the player the power to be on a farm doesn't seem like something a great number of people want to do.
10) A statistic should be displayed so that the player will know how much more experience each tool needs before it can go up a level. Actually, there should be a lot more statistics to display in general. It's difficult to figure out what I need to do to make friends, get girls, and a lot of other things. But if there were some stats to show what I need to do, then it would make it a lot easier and less puzzling.
11) Raising crops is fun, but playing girls is not. It is very unclear about what you need to do to get the girl, and when you figure it out it just becomes a tedious thing with very few gratifications.
