The characters always act like they are having fun, and that attitude carries on to the player. They are also curious, adventurous, and excited to take on any challenge.

Daxter is always acting like he thinks he's the man, but he's not, and he has so much fun doing it too. It's fun to watch. Many of the characters throughout the game have different types of personalities. All of which are fun, sincere, quirky, unique, and likeable. Daxter is always making comments as you encounter different things in his own fun, quirky, know-it-all way, which add more ambiance to the environment. The presents of many other characters the their personalities really adds to the ambiance too.

As in just about any platform game there are a variety of different obstacles at every turn and things to collect everywhere you go. It's this constant stream of short-term objectives and simple gratifications that makes these types of games so addictive. In this particular game, the short, medium, and long-term goals are nicely laid out to give the game a comfortable pace (medium being get the power cell, long term being get to the next area).

Each new area brings a unique set of game play activities. Racing with the airplane scooter, zooming high into the air with the blue eco pads, shooting fireballs with yellow eco, running through obstacle courses, fighting an arena of enemies, rounding up cows for farmers... and so on. Almost all of these activities are fun, especially with the company of the fun likeable characters.

Many different types of areas to explore (Spider caves, lava craters, snowy mountains, beaches, jungles, etc.).

You run around helping people out, collecting power cells, and it's kind of fun, but there seems to be a lack of explanation as to why I'm doing it. Yes, there is the bad guy that's trying to get the dark eco to release it's power on the people of the land, but that is a detail that is much overlooked. The struggle between hero and villian is barely present. There needs to be a deeper reason for my journey that should add more depth to the adventure.

Running around and collecting stuff seemed more like it was just something to do. It didn't tie into the story very well, or have much of anything to do with the plot. It was just like a bunch of fun and games with fun characters. Hardly any plot or drama.

The characters really showed themselves during the movies, but barely showed themselves at all in the game play.

The mood is extremely centered on the young audience. It needs to have something in there for older people too.
