Very well-designed tracks. There's lots of ups, downs, twists, and turns. It's set up in a way that when you take a drastic turn your initia still flows smoothly through the turn. There are no frustratingly sharp turns. The landscaping of the tracks is also done very well. There are unique pieces or architecture at every turn. The hills slope in different directions around you. Each track also goes through different types of areas: cities, forests, lakesides, woods, etc. The tracks also have plenty of side-tracks and short cuts, which gives the player more freedom of choice and more chances to experiment on how to go through the track faster, rather than just going through the level just one way all the time.
All the most exclusive car models. Perfect for car fans.
Plenty of different modes: hot pursuit, time trial, race, multi-race, custom, and quick. Hot persuit is the most unique one, and gives the game an extra edge, and also involves role-playing.
Top-notch graphics and well-tuned controls, a must for this cut-throat genre.
Plenty of things to unlock.
The voiced-over showcase of each car is neato!

Nothing really new or better in terms of design.
The levels look unique and vary in terrain, but not enough. Many of the areas still have a kind of generic aura about them, and all areas of each track tend to have the same feel.
The cars aren't modifiable.
There is no buying and selling of cars and parts as in Gran Turismo.
There are occational times when you could be driving and doing well for a few minutes of driving, and then there's one mess up that ends it and you have to start ALL OVER AGAIN!!!
