Top notch graphics, with unparalelled realism never before seen in real-time in games. There is much depth, texture, and detail to the environments, as well as top notch facial animation. You can feel it making your flesh crawl. Much more horrific and psychotic than the previous games.
Deep characters, much better than Fatal Frame. Silent Hill has always been the survival horror series with the deepest characters and story.
Plenty of extras to keep the player busy after beating the game. I especially like the transform outfit, sexy beam, and UFO ending.

This is a great game for fans of the survival horror genre, however this game will most certainly only be attractive to that niche.
Not much different from any other Silent Hill game. Just better graphics, different levels, a different story, and one kick-ass UFO ending.
As in Silent Hill 2, there are a lot of really bizarre things that happen for no explained reason.
The game is almost completely linear.
The game play is more like an adventure game than an action game. The game play is not designed to be fun, which is something that is needed in all games. The camera is also jerky sometimes, and the enemies and bosses simply aren't fun to fight.
The extras are great, but it is nearly impossible to figure out how to get them all without a walkthough or strategy guide.
