A great, original concept implemented moderately.
+
1) This is a very original concept for the building game genre: being the dictator of a carribean island. It has a very realistic political and economic model, and also acts as a sign of our times. Where else, but in today's world, would you find a carribean dictator simulation?
2) Building up the island doesn't take too long.
3) Low minimum system requirements.
4) There is a wide variety of customization options, both for game play and settings. You can custom design a scenario, and custom set graphics and memory management.
5) These building games act as an interactive discovery channel. When the player learns the mechanics of the game, they learn something about the way things are in real life. I came out of the game knowing some of the basics of the trials and tribulations that a dictator has to deal with. The problems that they face, etc. It was very educational.
6) The Tropican, Carribean feel is very upbeat and festive. Although it does get annoying after awhile. I suppose it can act as a hook to get the player interested.

1) Enormously steep learning curve. It took me quite a few hours before I could figure out how to accomplish anything.
2) This game is very nichey. Being a carribean dictator should only appeal to a small number of people. Most will probably think that it's lame and geeky.
3) The festive tropican feel seems very cheesy and stereotypical, and gets annoying after awhile. I think that the carribean people should have been protrayed in a more dignifiable way. Same thing with the tourists.
4) It would be nice of you could be a dictator of something other than a carribean island, such as Italy, China, or an African state. Having only one type of people, and one type of theme leaves the game too bland, and in need of variety.
5) With games like Black & White out on the market, it makes the graphical quality of this game look extremely primitive.
6) Being a dictator isn't neccessarily a fun thing to do. Something like being a rollercoaster tycoon, or building a house and making all of its family members happy would be more fun.
7) You cannot rotate the buildings. This is one of my biggest complaints.
8) It's just another kind of building game. Nothing really new in terms of game play experience.
9) The very fast speed is way too slow. I spend too much time waiting for my construction orders to be fulfilled, or my newly established farms to develop (among many other things).
10) Despite the low system requirements, this game hogs resources and bogs down the system often.
11) It's a little buggy.
